With the Governments announcement of moving back to level 2 and advice on wearing face coverings, Driving Creek is encouraging all people visiting us to wear a face covering. We will also be limiting the number of people and separate groups on our tours so we can maintain physical distancing rules.

We kindly ask that you do not come to Driving Creek if you are sick or have any symptoms of COVID-19, follow good hygiene practices, wear a face covering if you are able and adhere to any advice given by the Government.

Coromandel Zipline Tours

Glide through the forest on this unique zipline canopy tour and experience Coromandel’s breath-taking native forest from all levels, as you fly above the trees and walk beneath the ferns.
Our knowledgeable guides will lead you on an unforgettable journey, to learn about Driving Creek’s transformation from kauri logging, goldmining and pastural farming, into a lush hand planted native forest, a haven for regenerating kauri trees and kiwi.

Two of our expert guides will greet and outfit you with the safety equipment you will need for the journey. A spectacular 18 minute train ride will take you up New Zealand’s only mountain railway to the start of your Ziplining experience. Your two friendly guides will then lead you along eight ziplines, which span through trees and across gullies and streams, to experience New Zealand’s native trees and birds, including our largest tree species, the Kauri.

Coromandel Zipline Tours is a fully charitable company with all the profits from your tour going towards restoring and preserving New Zealand’s native forests and supporting the New Zealand clay arts.

There is no maximum age. As long as you feel fit and able, we would love to take you ziplining.

We highly recommend pre-booking to avoid being disappointed as there’s a limit of 10 people on each tour.
You can check availability online here.
Can I do the tour if I'm afraid of heights?
Yes, you can definitely do the tour! Our awesome guides will support and encourage you throughout your journey and you always have the option to stop at any time, but in most cases, you will embrace your fears and thrive throughout the tour.
Am I too old?
No, you are never too old. We are strong believers in the ‘you’re only as old as you feel’ motto, so as long as you reasonably fit (see the how fit do I need to be question above) you will be able to come on a zipline tour.
Why should I visit in winter?
Summer in Coromandel is obviously a whole lot warmer, but the native forest is spectacular in winter! The greens are greener, and the air is so fresh that you will feel more alive. We also give you the warmest and driest outdoor clothing we could find, so you will stay dry and toasty throughout the whole tour. But we do suggest bringing extra layers since you can never be too warm.
What happens if it's raining?
New Zealand’s native trees and plants love the rain, and this shows as you can see the forest thrive with a fresh natural watering. We provide the best rainwear, so you can embrace the elements and stay comfortable throughout the whole tour.
Why zipline here?
We are by no means the first zipline in the world, but we do offer a unique experience. At Coromandel Zipline Tours we use ziplining as a means to travel through the forest canopy where our knowledgeable guides will tell you the story of how this land has been transformed from the effects of kauri logging, gold mining, pastural farming and now into a QEII protected regenerating native forest, home to kauri trees and kiwi. Our forest is human-made with over 27,000 hand planted native trees (9,000 of which are kauri), the inspiration of one man over his lifetime. Seeing the scale of what one person can achieve is truly inspiring.

Coromandel Zipline Tours is also the only zipline canopy tour that we know of, that uses a train to take you to the start of the first zipline.
What do I need to wear?
Although Coromandel is known for its warm and sunny climate, it can still get chilly and rainy. We always recommend dressing for the conditions and bringing an extra layer, as you can never be too prepared. We do provide high quality wet weather gear so that you can stay extra warm and dry on the tour.

You must have closed toe footwear, so no jandals or sandals sorry.
Do I need ziplining experience?
No, our tour is a passive experience. Our awesome guides do all the work so that you can kick back and have fun.
When do tours depart?
We have multiple tours every day, click here to check availability
Can I take my own camera?
Yes! Don’t forget to bring your camera to capture all the good times throughout your tour. Bringing your camera is at your own risk and we recommend having a strap or zipped pocket to keep it safe while ziplining.

Feel free to tag us in your photos and videos on social media #coromandelziplinetours.
How many people are on a tour?
We have a maximum of 8 customers on each tour with 2 guides while we are in Level 2. Our guides do an awesome job at building a social and fun team from your group, so you will go away having met equally great people.
Is it safe?
Yes, Coromandel Zipline Tours is totally safe! We’ve established processes and procedures that keep you safe while also having loads of fun. We are fully compliant with the Adventure Activities Regulations 2016 and are registered as an Adventure Activity Operator here.
How does my ticket contribute to conservation?
Coromandel Zipline Tours is operated by Driving Creek Railway Ltd, which is wholly owned by the Driving Creek Railway, Arts and Conservation Trust, with both organisations being fully charitable, so 100% of the profit from your tour goes towards fostering conservation in the Coromandel and providing support for New Zealand’s clay arts.

Check out our Conservation Park page for more information on what we are doing to enhance and protect New Zealand’s native flora and fauna.
